Germany Aims to Impose its Will on a Weakened Europe

If someone in Europe outside of Germany in the 1950s or even earlier that that time travelled in the year 2011, he or she will be terrified of what is happening now. Germany is doing or has probably done what it cannot do in WW1 and WW2 and that is to be able to have control on its neighboring European countries and this time seemingly with the cooperation of long-time geopolitical rival.

This week Germany has relegated the UK to the sidelines and able to impose its policies in the Eurozone.

-------------------------
"Europe’s worst financial crisis in generations is forging a new European Union, pushing Britain to the sidelines and creating a more integrated, fiscally disciplined core of nations under the auspices of a resurgent Germany."

"The agreement was a clear victory for Mrs. Merkel, and it prompted a sharp rally in stock markets in Europe and the United States.

"The European Union emerged in its current form in the late 1980s and early 1990s as a French-German idea to bind the region in the aftermath of the Soviet collapse. It is now being reinvented by a united Germany that has grown disillusioned by what it considers as debt-happy neighbors and is no longer reticent about wielding its economic and political clout."

Source: The New York Times
--------------------------

In the history of Europe, the nations now involved in this drama has always been afraid of a United Germany.  the The Berlin Wall came down about 20 years ago which is a good thing, now Germany is united and a European power. This may sound ok to to ohers since Germany is a democracy anyway and a progressive country. But to the man who time travelled from the 1940s this could be chilling stuff.

In fact a year ago today, present German Chancellor, Angela merkel admitted that multicultarilism is an utter failure.

------------------------
"Speaking to a meeting of young members of her Christian Democratic Union party, Merkel said the idea of people from different cultural backgrounds living happily "side by side" did not work."

Source: The Guardian
-------------------------

For the time traveling European man, this is German nationalism rearing its ugly head again. But in this case, I can hardly blame Germany this time since radical Muslims have indeed abused the generosity of Germany and has been used it to be a base to plan terror attacks.

This is not a knack on the German people and the present leadership but the environment is ripening that another push for German nationalism is in the offing and history has shown it has not been very good for Europe whenever Germany goes to this route.  We should be very careful of the next generation of leaders that come out after Merkel. The seeds are beginning to be planted again when Germany may see no way but to impose its will once again.

Warning the EU - Beware of the Nord Stream Pipeline

Russia's Nord Stream Pipeline will provide the EU with much needed gas and will be fully operation by 2012.

-----------------------
"The two 1,224-kilometre offshore pipelines are the most direct connection between the vast gas reserves in Russia and energy markets in the European Union. When fully operational in the last quarter of 2012, the twin pipelines will have the capacity to transport a combined total of 55 billion cubic metres (bcm) of gas a year to businesses and households in the EU for at least 50 years."

Source: The Nord Stream Website

-------------------------

In 1982 US President Ronald Reagan warned about this Europe's dependence on Russian gas for their economic well being.

-------------------------
"We tried to persuade our allies not to go forward with the pipeline for two reasons. One, we think there is a risk that if they become industrially dependent on the Soviet Union for energy—and all the valves are on the Soviet side of the border—that the Soviet Union can engage in a kind of blackmail when that happens."

"The second thing is, the Soviet Union is very hard pressed financially and economically today. They have put their people literally on a starvation diet with regard to consumer items while they poured all their resources into the most massive military buildup the world has ever seen. And that buildup is obviously aimed at the nations in the alliance. And they, the Soviet Union, now hard-pressed for cash because of its own actions, can perceive anywhere from 10 to 12 billion dollars a year in hard cash payments in return for the energy when the pipeline is completed—which I assume, if they continue the present policies, would be used to arm further against the rest of us and against our allies and thus force more cost for armaments for the rest of the world. And for these two reasons, we tried to persuade our allies not to go forward."

-----------------------

The warning and the logic is simple. Now the EU is again aiming to strenghten a Russian premier who longs for the return of the Soviet Union. When will we ever learn?

History 101: The Hamas-Muslim Brotherhood Connection

The true nature of the relationship of Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood is a simple and straight forward one but is largely ignored by the mainstream media and even so-called analysts

GlobalSecurity.org provides us with a simple narration of the history of Hamas showing that it was an offshot of the Muslim Brotherhood.
"HAMAS, which includes military and political wings, was formed by the late Sheik Ahmad Yasinat at the onset of the first Palestinian uprising or Intifadah in late 1987, as an outgrowth of the Palestinian branch of the Muslim Brotherhood. The armed element, called the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, conducts anti-Israeli attacks, including suicide bombings against civilian targets inside Israel. Social-political elements engage in "Dawa" or ministry activities, which include running charities and schools, fund-raising and political activities. A Shura council based in Damascus, Syria, sets overall policy. Since winning Palestinian Authority (PA) elections in 2006, HAMAS has taken control of significant PA ministries, including the Ministry of Interior. HAMAS formed an expanded, overt militia called the Executive Force, subordinate to the Ministry."

Source: GlobalSecurity.org

We don't have to go far however in the details of the history of Hamas since from their own words and embedded in their own charter is the true nature of the group that they are the Muslim Brotherhood's arm in Palestine.

The Islamic Resistance Movement's Relation With the Muslim Brotherhood Group:

Article Two:
The Islamic Resistance Movement is one of the wings of Muslim Brotherhood in Palestine. Muslim Brotherhood Movement is a universal organization which constitutes the largest Islamic movement in modern times. It is characterised by its deep understanding, accurate comprehension and its complete embrace of all Islamic concepts of all aspects of life, culture, creed, politics, economics, education, society, justice and judgement, the spreading of Islam, education, art, information, science of the occult and conversion to Islam.

Now one of the first troubling act and as a could be a sign of things to come happened during the protests in Egypt to oust President Mubarak was when Hamas prisoners in Egypt escaped and returned to Gaza. This story wasn't covered and the Hamas connection was barely mentioned at all by the mainstream media.

History 101: The Jihadist-Nazi Connection

In connection with the concern of the rising into greater influence or even power of Radical Islam in Muslim countries, we will tackle one of the most least talked about aspect of Nazi Germany, its relationship with jihadists. I don't seem to see any kind of coverage in the numerous World war II documentaries of the national geographic or Discovery Channel or even in the History Channel. Hope I just missed them but in case you don't see it as well we have it here.

One is a video of Stakelbeck on Terror discussing the the cooperation between Nazis and Jihadists.

The next is an article from American Thinker which shows discussions and documents of evidences of such cooperation between Hitler's group and radical Muslims.

History 101: The Iran Al-Qaeda Connection

One of the least understood aspects of modern terrorism is the relationship between Iran and Al-Qaeda. According to Ronen Bergman's book, The Secret War with Iran there is a misconception that Al-Qaeda was just inspired by the Khomeini's Iranian Revolution in 1979. They were inspired indeed but there was more, Iran supported Al-Qaeda in its early years providing arms and training.

In a witness testimony at the FBI, it shows that Al-Qaeda received terrorist training from Iran and its proxy Hezballah
As was revealed at the trial that took place in New York earlier this year, a former member of Bin Laden's Al-Qaeda network began working with the United States government in 1996. That witness revealed that Bin Laden had a terrorist group, Al-Qaeda, which had privately declared war on America and was operating both on its own and as an umbrella for other terrorist groups. The witness revealed that Al-Qaeda had a close working relationship with the aforementioned Egyptian terrorist group known as Egyptian Islamic Jihad. The witness recounted that Bin Laden and Al-Qaeda were seeking to obtain nuclear and chemical weapons and that the organization engaged in sophisticated training. He also revealed that Al-Qaeda obtained specialized terrorist training from and worked with Iranian government officials and the terrorist group Hezballah.

Some say that this is hard to believe since Shiites like Iran and Al-Qaeda which are Sunnis cannot get along. But Sudan's Islamist leader, Turabi convinced them to leave their differences aside for a greater cause like global jihad.
Bin Ladin seemed willing to include in the confederation terrorists from almost every corner of the Muslim world. His vision mirrored that of Sudan's Islamist leader, Turabi, who convened a series of meetings under the label Popular Arab and Islamic Conference around the time of Bin Ladin's arrival in that country. Delegations of violent Islamist extremists came from all the groups represented in Bin Ladin's Islamic Army Shura. Representatives also came from organizations such as the Palestine Liberation Organization, Hamas, and Hezbollah.

Turabi sought to persuade Shiites and Sunnis to put aside their divisions and join against the common enemy. In late 1991 or 1992, discussions in Sudan between al Qaeda and Iranian operatives led to an informal agreement to cooperate in providing support-even if only training-for actions carried out primarily against Israel and the United States. Not long afterward, senior al Qaeda operatives and trainers traveled to Iran to receive training in explosives. In the fall of 1993, another such delegation went to the Bekaa Valley in Lebanon for further training in explosives as well as in intelligence and security. Bin Ladin reportedly showed particular interest in learning how to use truck bombs such as the one that had killed 241 U.S. Marines in Lebanon in 1983.The relationship between al Qaeda and Iran demonstrated that Sunni-Shia divisions did not necessarily pose an insurmountable barrier to cooperation in terrorist operations. As will be described in chapter 7, al Qaeda contacts with Iran continued in ensuing years.

History 101: The Historical Intentions of Russia in the Middle East

Most of the writers in the Arab-Israeli conflict often times, miss one element in the narrative and their analysis, the Russian participation. Throughout history and even today, Russia is a big player in this conflict.

History 101: What was the Relationship of Iran and the PLO

One of the forgotten aspects of the modern Middle East conflict and which seems to be disregarded by the media was the early days of the Ayatollah Khomeini and their objective of exporting the revolution. History shows that even before the success of the Iranian revolution, the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) have provided assistance to the present Iranian regime. The PLO in fact trained and helped create the Iranian Revolutionary Guards.

Geopolitics - The Middle East Problem in a Nutshell

Best-selling author and talk show host. Dennis Prager, attempts to explain the Middle East problem in 5 minutes and goes to the very core of the conflict.

One interesting question he provides here is that why didn't anyone talk about a Palestinian state when the region was under Jordanian rule?

The Evidence for Israel 4: Michmash

In the amazing book "Wilmington's Guide to the Bible", DR. H. L. WILLMINGTON shares a story of a British soldier named Major Vivian Gilbright recollects that during the first world war, they were victorious in one attack because of the brigade major's knowledge of the Bible.

This story all the more shows how true the Bible is and how it can be seen as a prime evidence that indeed the Israelites were here in ancient times. You can see the story in 1 Samuel 14:1-14.

fromWilmington's Guide to the Bible:

Major Vivian Gilbright, a British army officer, relates an amazing story regarding this passage in his reminiscences about World War I. He writes:

“In the first world war a brigade major in Allenby’s army in Palestine was on one occasion searching his Bible, with the light of a candle, looking for a certain name. His brigade had received orders to take a village that stood on a rocky prominence on the other side of a deep valley. It was called Michmash and the name seemed somehow familiar. Eventually he found it here in First Samuel. The brigade major reflected that there must still be this narrow passage through the rocks, between the two spurs, and at the end of it the ‘half acre of land.’ He woke the commander and they read the passage through together once more. Patrols were sent out. They found the pass, which was thinly held by the Turks, and which led past two jagged rocks-obviously Bozez and Seneh. Up on top, beside Michmash, they could see by the light of the moon a small flat field. The brigadier altered his plan of attack. Instead of deploying the whole brigade, he sent one company through the pass under cover of darkness. The few Turks whom they met were overpowered without a sound, the cliffs were scaled, and shortly before daybreak the company had taken up a position on ‘the half acre of land.’ The Turks woke up and took to their heels in disorder since they thought that they were being surrounded by Allenby’s army. They were all killed or taken prisoner. ‘And so’ (concludes Major Gilbright) ‘after thousands of years British troops successfully copied the tactics of Saul and Jonathan.’”

The Evidence for Israel 3 - The Call for Help

In our last post, we discussed how the Jews conquered the present day land of Israel after the falling of the Walls of Jericho. If this happened one must think, that the nation states in that area of the Canaanites will not give it without a fight or just roll over and die. War and chaos had to ensue right? Now is there any evidence for this atmosphere?
The Amarna Tablets found by archaeologists show that there was indeed a growing war with invaders at that time. They were letters written in Babylonian cuneiform to an Egyptian Pharaoh about a group of called the "Apiru" or "Habiru" who scholars believe and has evidence were the Jews. It was a distress call for help.

Among them were letters written in Babylonian cuneiform script to these Pharaohs of Egypt by various kings dwelling in the land of Canaan and Syria, they were written during the time of Moses. They provide the first evidence of the Hebrew tribes entering into the land of Canaan in ancient times.
from Bible History Online

Imagine today that one nation is being attacked or threatened to be attacked by another or a group of nations. The president of the threatened country will call a press conference to call for help from its allies or ask for sympathy at the UN. Of course this does not discount the fact if the attacked country is guilty or not. CNN,BBC and other international news media will cover the plea for help with great interest.

The Canaanites have no satellite technology at that time so they sent their plea with stones as letters to the Egyptian Pharaoh.

The Evidence for Israel 2 - The Walls of Jericho

In the first part of series, I mentioned that this is to show that the Jews are legitimate in occupying the present land of Israel and that its history shows it. I also say that the evidence we will cite will be set in stone and not just in the pen of history. This series aims to use archaeology to show that Jews should live in present day Israel and it was theirs to begin with as God decreed it thousands of years ago.

Israel's history can be seen in length and in detail if one reads the Bible. Archaeology has provided evidence to the biblical accounts and along it ties up with Israel's ancient existence. The first evidence we will look at are the walls of Jericho.

God first promised the land of Israel to Abraham. But it was not in the time of Joshua until the Israelites officially ruled this land and defeated the Canaanites (these are not the ancestors of the Palestinians) . You can read the details of this conquest by going to the Book of Joshua in the Bible.

After following God's instructions of encircling the Wall of Jericho and the blasting of trumpets, the structure fell down. Is there any evidence for the wall of Jericho and its falling down?

In the website of answersingenesis.com, it cites the findings of British archaeologist Kathleen Kenyon in the 1950s.
Photo from: Bibleplaces.com (Jericho page)

Kenyon’s work was the most detailed. On the west side of the tell, at the base of the retaining, or revetment, wall, she found,

‘fallen red bricks piling nearly to the top of the revetment. These probably came from the wall on the summit of the bank [and/or] … the brickwork above the revetment

The scientific explanation of what caused the the collapse of the walls according to some is via an earthquake. But even that earthquake explanation is quite unusual according this time from Christiananswers.com.

What caused the strong walls of Jericho to collapse? The most likely explanation is an earthquake. But the nature of the earthquake was unusual. It struck in such a way as to allow a portion of the city wall on the north side of the site to remain standing, while everywhere else the wall fell.
Even one of the difficult details of this conquest has archaeological evidence. Before going to the land, Joshua sent spies to scout the land. The spies stayed in the house of the prostitute Rahab who was sympathetic to the Jews since she has heard of the prophecy that they will be the future occupiers of the land (Joshua 2). The Bible also states that Rahab's house was part of the city wall.

"So she let them down by a rope through the window, for the house she lived in was part of the city wall." (Joshua 2:15)

Rahab was promised as well that her house will be spared. But how can this be if the wall was destroyed?

Answerinsgenesis also cites the works of Ernst Sellin and Carl Watzinger on why this has archaeological evidence.

The German excavation of 1907–1909 found that on the north a short stretch of the lower city wall did not fall as everywhere else. A portion of that mudbrick wall was still standing to a height of over two meters (eight feet). What is more, there were houses built against the wall! It is quite possible that this is where Rahab’s house was.
With the archaeological findings of the Walls of Jericho we can now establish the conquest of this land of the Jews from the Canaanites. God punished the wickedness of the Canaanites with the arrival of the Jews and also at the same time fulfilled His promise to Abraham.

The Evidence for Israel 1 - The Historical Map

I was thinking of one article providing evidences of the legitimacy of Israel occupying its present land. But the mountain of evidences will not do justice to the argument if I would compress it into such a short post. There has been a lot of campaign in recent years not only from radical Islam but even from the secular media of twisting history saying that Israel was never present in this land at all.

We will in this series not only argue on the point of history and ideas but we will show evidence that is undeniable and without debate. These will be evidences set in stone.

First of we will argue via video at the point of history. Here is a good video from ColonieRabbi on the transformation of the present land of Israel and its occupiers. If one is to deny the ancient existence of Israel, all scholars should also deny the existence of the kingdoms that occupied this land.

An Explanation of Israeli Settlements in the West Bank

It might be a little bit bland to some but this is an easy to understand explanation on the debate regarding the presence of Israeli settlement in the West Bank and why it is causing much conflict these days.

Take full measure of the content. Take the video as a form of information or even education rather than entertainment.
