Just like an ordinary person, the debtor loses leverage against the lender. That is why it is so harder to talk to China now. That is a principle already simply noted by the Bible thousands of years ago:

The next Clinton salvo was when she compared the Iran situation to the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962. Such a strong comparison from a powerful political leader whose on the inside of diplomatic negotiations. Does it mean she is reading the whole thing as a political time bomb by now?
